Oil on canvas portrait of four children; the older girl holds a pair of scissors; at the side of another child about to cut off a lock of hair; her other hand holds a lock of hair of another girl, and a small child looks on with hand resting on a ostrich plume decorated hat. Housed in a period gilt frame. SIZE: 34″ x 28″. Overall: 39″ x 33″. PROVENANCE: Acquired by our consignor from a Philadelphia collector having association with Charles W. Peale. CONDITION: Wax lined, very good with inpainting 9-28577 (2,000-3,000)
