DIMINUTIVE MARQUETRY WALNUT LADY’S DESK. 19th century, continental. The rectangular top with molded serpentine edge, fitted with a rear shelf with scalloped edges over demilune small drawers, centering a small shelf with bow front, fitted with a drawer, all above the conforming outswept frieze. The front with central drawer flanked by short drawers. Raised on angular and accentuated tapering cabriole legs. The whole with marquetry scenic decoration of dense floral vinery with urns and fountains, centering cherubs and putti in aquatic surroundings. SIZE: 29″ h x 34″ w x 19″ d. Overall height: 32″. CONDITION: With generally dry original surfaces, with normal and expected shrinkage cracks. Some losses and subsequent filling to marquetry, otherwise good. 9-27207 (800-1,200)
