FEDERAL TIGER MAPLE TAMBOUR SECRETARY. First quarter 19th century, New England. In two parts, the rectangular upper case fitted with a row of three short drawers over a central door opening to an arrangement of drawers and valenced pigeon holes flanked by tambour slides, each opening to reveal two drawers over valenced pigeon holes. The top stepped back on the lower case, with turret corners above a shallow top drawer opening to expose a hinged baise-line writing surface over a conforming door, the two flanked by deep drawers, all above two long drawers, all with cockbeaded edges. The case with columnar pilasters continuing to ring-turned cylindrical legs tapering to pointed feet. SIZE: Overall h: 52″. 46-1/2″ w x 21-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Repolished with professional cosmetic restoration. Brass handles are later replacements. 9-29656 (4,000-6,000)
