JACOBEAN OAK CABINET, MAHOGANY WALL BOX, AND DESK INTERIOR. 17th to 19th century, England. The Jacobean wall cabinet of rectangular form with fielded panel door on iron H-hinges with a simple molded cornice and base assembled with rosehead nails and fumed surfaces. The Regency mahogany wall box, circa 1840, with sloping hinged lid with rectangular cutout to receive mail additionally fixed with a plaque engraved “MAIL”. The body inlaid on the front with a shell within oval paterae on a mahogany panel within a string inlaid border with oak leaf spandrels. The oak desk interior, late 18th, early 19th century, fitted with an arrangement of ten square drawers centering a pair of aligned valanced pigeonholes, the drawers mounted with brass ring pulls. SIZE: 1) 19-1/2″ h x 19″ w x 9-1/4″ d; 2) 18-1/2″ h x 7-1/4″ w x 5-1/2″ d; 3) 17″ h x 21-1/2″ w x 12″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine Maine and New York private collection. CONDITION: The first with original surfaces and minor repairs. The second with original surfaces, small chip to rear of lid, otherwise good. The third with old surfaces, normal and expected wear and losses to molding, one handle missing ring pull, otherwise good. 9-29877 (600-900)
