JACOBEAN STYLE CARVED OAK TALL CASE CLOCK. Foliate and floral carved case overall. The molded arched cornice above the arched door carved with floral garlands opening to to the eight day brass movement striking on a gong. The silvered dial with roman numeral chapter ring, time and strike apertures and sweep seconds subsidiary dial beneath a time and strike subsidiary dial within the arch. Applied with pierced and scrolled gilt metal spandrels. The case with paneled door densely carved with ribbon tied floral garland, the sides similarly carved, joined to a box base centering a panel carved with bearded Northwind mask on acanthus carved plinth. SIZE: 87-1/2″ h x 15-1/2″ w of throat x 14″ overall d. PROVENANCE: From a fine Augusta, Maine estate. CONDITION: Case with original dark surfaces and finish. Finial absent. Brass movement intact and clean. Winder, weights and pendulum present. Working condition unknown. 9-29184 (2,000-4,000)
