CHARLES II OAK STOOL. Mid 18th century or earlier, England. This fine example with rectangular molded top above the conforming frieze, the front apron foliate carved raised on blocked and turned cylindrical legs on block feet joined by molded rectangular box stretcher. Constructed from fine figural oak timber of pegged construction. SIZE: 20-1/2″ h x 24″ l x 14″ w. PROVENANCE: From a fine Maine and New York private collection. CONDITION: Stool retains old if not original polished surfaces with honey to dark brown color and nice patina. Stool with later blue blocks applied to top at apron. Otherwise very good. Showing normal and expected wear commensurate with age. 9-29880 (500-700)
