PAIR OF MEISSEN PATE SUR PATE VASES. 3rd quarter 19th century. These classical urn form examples each in mauve high glaze. Central celadon colored panels are decorated with beautifully detailed woman and nymph with flowing hair and ribbons and basket above her head. Base of the urns within a gilt decorated wreath on a square plinth. Cast brass lids reticulated and surmounted by a floral knop. Signed on the underside with underglaze blue Meissen cross swords. SIZE: 11-1/4″ h. CONDITION: Overall both are very good with one knop of lid with replaced spherical fastener. Gilding on handles having some professional restoration. 9-23476 (7,500-10,000)
