NEW ENGLAND QUEEN ANNE WALNUT SIDE CHAIR. 2nd half 18th century. The yoked crest rail continuing to shaped stiles centering a chamfered vasiform splat, the trapezoidal slip seat fitted within a conforming rail, raised on frontal cabriole legs with molded shaped returns, the rear legs backswept and blocked joined by an H-form stretcher. SIZE: 39-3/4″ h. of chair x 17-1/2″ h. of seat. PROVENANCE: From a home in Charlotte, Vermont. CONDITION: Retaining original pegged and pinned construction, old restoration to proper left crest rail at stile, seat rail stabilized with early forged nails, rear glue blocks in seat frame are replacements. Retains old surfaces. Slip seat early but not examined for originality. Overall good. 9-99048 (600-900)
