MODEL 1795 SPRINGFIELD FLINTLOCK MUSKET DATED 1800. SN NSN. Cal..69. 42″ Unmarked bbl has bayonet lug 1-1/4″ back from muzzle. Typical 1795 lock with removable faceted pan is stamped “Springfield” in an arched curve behind cock, and “U S” surmounted by right-facing eagle in front. Trigger guard has long pointed finials. Buttplate is dated “1800”. Walnut stock is fluted. Right side of stock has initials “L.H” deeply carved. CONDITION: Good. Metal parts are dark brown patina. Wood may have been refinished many years ago. Wood and bbl now have an old coat of added varnish. Rear band is a replacement. Tulip-topped ramrod appears to be orig. 4-40465 MGM189 (1,200-2,000)
