JAMES DOUGHERTY ESTATE ARCHIVE OF NORMA JEANE (MARILYN MONROE) MATERIAL. James Dougherty was Norma Jeane’s first husband before she changed her name to Marilyn Monroe. The lot includes: Two compiled binders, sixteen VHS tapes, 1 DVD, 1 folder of material, 1 book, and a miscellaneous lot of material including the following: 1) “Certification of Copy” Decree of Divorce between Norma Jeane Dougherty and James Edward Dougherty, 13th Day of September, 1946 (this is probably James Dougherty’s copy from the original decree). 2) A binder containing a quantity of copies of correspondence, documents, and photographs. Some of the photo copies are by Joseph Jasgur. 3) Eight No. 10 envelopes with First Day Issue stamping Skowhegan, Maine June 1, 1995 with 32 Cent Marilyn Monroe stamp. 4) Appears to be an original photograph of their collie dog. 5) A 4-1/2″ x 2-3/4″ old, but probably not period, photograph of Norma Jeane & James in Bird Park at Catalina in 1944 which was printed in his book “To Norma Jeane, With Love Jimmie”. 6) Typed manuscript copy of “To Norma Jeane With Love, Jimmie”. 7) A folder of material concerning James’s later life promoting Marilyn Monroe. Includes correspondence from Valhalla Productions, Newspaper Clippings, Magazines, signed correspondence from Larry King regarding his appearance on the show, approximately 50 signed 10-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ color photographs. The VHS tapes including various productions and appearances including Larry King Live, etc. PROVENANCE: Consigned directly from the Estate of James Edward Dougherty.
