RARE BRASS AND COPPER NAVY SHIP’S COMPASS AND BINNACLE, LIONEL CORPORATION. Circa 1942, New York. The copper brass bound small binnacle with carrying handle with a side mount compartment housing a small Miller Company kerosene lantern, the door fitted with a concave mirror plate. The front of the binnacle mounted with a brass plate inscribed “U.S. NAVY / BU. OF SHIPS / THE LIONEL CORPORATION / NEW YORK”. Housed within the binnacle is a dry mount compass on a gimbal. The brass compass frame inscribed with the maker’s name and date of manufacture. SIZE: 9-3/4″ h x 9″ w x 9-1/4″ overall d. CONDITION: Binnacle polished.
