L. T. SNOW “STRONG” CANNON ON NAVAL CARRIAGE. SN NSN. Cal. 10 Ga. Blank. 11″ Brass barrel with pivoting breech and lanyard-released spring-loaded firing pin, is stamped “L. T. Snow The “Strong” Cannon – M’F’R” and “New Haven. Conn. U.S.A.” on breech. Top of bbl is engraved in block initials “W. B.” Two-wheeled mahogany naval carriage with lignum vitae wheels has brass faucet-handled elevation screw. CONDITION: Very good, as found. Bbl retains considerable amount of what appears to be its original lacquer. Un-lacquered surfaces are a mellowed patina. Carriage retains most of its original varnish. Axle retaining nuts are steel replacements. Two rear eyelets are galvanized steel replacements. Extractor handle has been replaced by a piece of brass key blank.
