L. T. SNOW “STRONG” CANNON WITH NAVAL CARRIAGE. SN NSN. Cal. 8 Bore. 13″ Brass barrel with pivoting breech is marked “L. T. Snow “The Strong” Cannon. – M’F’R – (Eagle logo) New Haven. Conn. U. S. A.”. Breech is fitted with spring-loaded firing-pin and lever handle extractor. Mahogany brass mounted two-wheeled naval carriage has faucet-type elevation handle, and is fitted with maple brass capped axle, and lignum vitae wheels. CONDITION: Fine, as found. Bbl retains traces of original lacquer, has mostly a golden bronze patina. Carriage retains most of its original varnish. One lashing eye is missing at rear, and cocking mechanism detent end is broken with no spring … needs attention before cannon can be fired. 4-40965 MGM174 (4,500-6,500)
