FINE 18TH CENTURY PICTORIAL SAMPLER. Probably Continental. Wrought with floral filled urns, scrolling floral vinery, fruit trees and animals centering a polychrome cartouche in which is woven “ADH/1783”. All above a row of houses and windmill alternating with human figures. The alphabet is woven as a border centering the name “ALFIA AROUDT”. Mounted within a maple frame of the period. SIZE: 18″ x 19-3/4″ sight. PROVENANCE: From a fine Augusta, Maine estate. CONDITION: Sampler remains structurally sound. The linen ground with some foxing and spotting. 9-29335 (1,000-1,500)
