LOUIS GABRIEL EUGENE ISABEY (French, 1803-1886) “AN ANCIENT CASTLE”. Oil on copper scene shows a castle entryway with a gentleman holding a rose behind his back greeting a young woman at the door. Two small dogs are on the steps and a peacock is walking up the dirt entryway. A fountain is seen on the right, flowers and an ornamental tree are seen to the left of the entryway. Housed in a lemon gold period frame with an artist plaque. An old and possibly original label on reverse with title and artist. SIZE: 17″ x 13-3/4″. CONDITION: Consolidated varnish layer, very good. 9-97021 (3,000-3,500)
