CIVIL WAR 2ND MODEL MAYNARD CARBINE. Cal. 50, SN18409. Standard 2nd model Maynard carbine manufactured by Massachusetts Arms Company, Chicopee Falls and so marked. This gun retains much of its original finish with great cartouches and a near pristine bore. CONDITION: Fine overall. Appears all matching, though we did not remove bbl to check for matching serial number. Bbl retains 80%-90% of its original bright blue finish with remainder turning plum with scattered staining and tiny amounts of rust. Frame hammer and loading lever retain small areas of muted color and are smooth overall with areas of staining and light pitting. Butt plate is brown and pitted overall. Inspector marks on steel occur on several parts including bbl, butt plate, and rear sight. Two very crisp inspector cartouches are found on stock. The bore is bright with some staining and crisp rifling. 4-39896 JS59 (2,000-3,000)
