MEISSEN FIGURAL GROUP OF FAMILY. Mid 19th-first quarter 20th century, German. Depicting a mother seated in armchair, toddler in her lap spilling cards. Older child climbing on her should striving for attention and young boy seated on footstool beside his mother. All brightly attired on oval grassy plinth bordered by guilloches. Incised “E. 69.” and impressed “148”. Marked in red paint “41.” With crossed swords in underglaze blue. SIZE: 8-1/2″ h. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: With extensive heavy restoration including mother’s head, neck and proper right hand, toddler’s left arm and two cards at front of dress, seated boy’s left and right hands and to right leg, also right arm of seated boy.
