MEISSEN FIGURAL GROUP OF UNREQUITED LOVE. First quarter to early third quarter 19th century. German. Depicting a young couple joined by floral garland and a second young woman with spilled basket of flowers, partially seated on rock with a disconsolate expression. On a rockwork oval plinth with border of acanthus leaf arches. Incised “F 49”. Impressed mark “163”. Crossed swords in underglaze blue. SIZE: 12-3/4″ h x 8″ l x 6″ w. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: Restoration to handle of basket, and to area of hat plumage. Some loss to flower petals and leaf tips on plinth. 9-24516 (2,500-3,000)
