UNSIGNED (China, 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF THE CLIPPER SHIP “EDITH ROSE”. China Trade oil on canvas mounted on board ship portrait shows the black hulled three-mast clipper ship in full sail flying American flag, sailing left to right with seven crew members on deck. The name emblazoned on the bow and below life boat and is seen in under a cloud and blue sky. Housed in a China Trade frame in red paint having gilt liner. The Edith Rose was Captained by Hatsel F. Crowell and built by Hayden & Cudworth of Medford, Massachusetts and owned by Yates & Porterfield of New York. SIZE: 18″ x 23-1/2″.
