PAIR OF LOUIS XIV STYLE ARMCHAIRS. 19th century, France. “Os Du Mouton” style, each with rectangular back and shaped crestrail joined to downward sloping rings continuing to rectangular arms centering deep conforming seat, all overupholstered in 18th century floral crewel stitch tapestry depicting dense floral scenery with classical urns and exotic birds. Each raised on shaped legs joined by serpentine H-form stretchers, the beach frames of pegged and mortised construction. SIZE: 47-1/2″ h of back x 15″ h of seat from. Overall w: 29″. PROVENANCE: From a fine August, Maine estate. CONDITION: Dry, crusty original finish. Minor insect damage. Each chair with two legs ended out and spliced.
