LARGE MEISSEN FIGURAL GROUP. Mid 19th-first quarter 20th century, German. Depicting two semi-nude maidens hauling a net assisted by two children. Net filled with various sea creatures including fish, lobster, coral and shells, water running from beneath net. Posed on rockwork plinth. Incised “C 35” and impressed “125”. Painted “33” in black. With crossed swords in underglaze blue. SIZE: 12-1/2″ h x 9-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home. CONDITION: With old repair to left hand of uppermost female. Minor flecks and losses throughout base, shallow chip to rear of plinth, and with small losses to leaf tips. Child in net missing first finger left hand. Child pulling net with old repair to left hand. Plant beneath right knee of kneeling female restored. Otherwise good. 9-24529 (3,500-4,000)
