EMILE ALBERT GRUPPE (American, 1896-1978) “HAULING THE NETS”. Oil on canvas scene shows eight men in a small boat off a large schooner hauling in the net which is full of fish and being unloaded onto the schooner deck. Another schooner is seen in back with another small boat. Signed lower right. Housed in its original silver gilt carved wood frame. Title and dated “1975” on reverse. This scene was a popular subject for Gruppe and was revisited many times. Accompanying the painting is a small Gruppe biography which its cover displays a similar work. SIZE: 25” x 30”.
