OUTSTANDING HAND-DRAWN AND COLORED LOCOMOTIVE ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING OF THE “MOUNT SHENGENA”. Drawn by John Wallace Elder of New York City. The three-sectioned locomotive with cutaway view of steam engine having a key with specifications. This locomotive is a 1955 Beyer, Peacock & Co. designed and built locomotive. It was built for the East African Railway and is considered by most historians the most beautiful style steam locomotive ever built. They were named for mountains in the British East Africa region. Housed in a molded wood frame behind glass. Accompanying the lot is a New York Times article from 1988 about the train and including a picture of the actual train depicted in this drawing. SIZE: Sight: 18″ x 57″. Overall: 22-1/4″ x 61-1/4″. CONDITION: Foxing spots and rub to lower left edge. 9-29694 (4,000-6,000)
