RARE CAGED LION DIORAMA. Last quarter 19th century, New England. Found in Springfield, Massachusetts. The horse hair plaster relief cast panel depicting a male lion set within a wood frame and centered by a simulated carved cage door with bars and hinges. Possibly a circus panel, this 3 dimensional example intended for wall mounting. SIZE: 33-1/2″ h x 43-1/2″ w x 5″ d. CONDITION: With original painted surfaces in untouched condition, and minor and minimal paint losses. With minor restoration to two finials on cage bars, right front facing. 9-27815 (2,000-3,000)
