MAGNETIC TIME KEEPER & COMPASS. Mid 19th- century. Fitted in a circular brass case, the lid impressed “MAGNETIC TIME KEEPER & COMPASS” centering a stylized sun face. The bottom of the case impressed with the retailer; “HUNTER & CO BOOKSELLERS & PUBLISHERS: HINSDALE N.H” further centering “PATENT APPLIED FOR”. The silvered sun dial with directional. Around the exterior chapter ring are the compass letters, the interior chapter ring with Roman numerals all fitted beneath a convex glass crystal. SIZE: 1-1/4″h. x 1-1/2″d. CONDITION: Very good overall, in working order, and with original surfaces and nice patina. there is a small area of rust beneath the “XII”. 9-99902 (700-900)
