RARE “THE COLUMBUS EGG” BELL TOY. A marvelous all original bell toy combining early American tin, cast iron, and wood of unknown manufacture, perhaps by J. & E. Stevens or Gong Bell Co.? The gaily painted pig with top hat and “CHICAGO” embossed on his coat, swivels from left to right while spinning “The Columbus Egg” and striking the bell. Perhaps this toy was inspired by the Columbian Exposition held in Chicago in 1893 ?? One of three known. SIZE: 9”. CONDITION: Overall condition excellent, flaking and wear to tin base.
