CONFEDERATE 2ND MODEL LEMAT REVOLVER. Cal. 42/18 ga., SN1117. This is a nice, middle range, standard Paris model that appears all original and complete. Like all LeMats, there are numerous small variations that occurred during their evolution in production. This gun has an unusual transitional latch not often seen and it is correct, being properly serial numbered like most every other component of this gun. Even the removable rod and the loading lever are numbered. According to several references written on LeMat revolvers, this gun was probably made in 1862. CONDITION: Metal surfaces overall are gray/brown with scattered staining and pitting. Entirety of gun now has a thin layer of varnish. The checkered stocks are very good overall; just showing a few minor chips and scratches. The reciprocating pin mechanism is mechanically sound and gun functions well. 4-40763 JS48 (14,000-16,000)
