TWO LARGE METTLACH STEINS. 1) No. 2176/1055 3 liter; pewter lid. The scene shows two Cavaliers leaving a wine cellar. Monkeys perched atop archways, two verses on either side of handle in German “There is no braver man than one that dares to drink-too much”. Fully marked on base. 2) No. 2261/1012 3 liter with pewter lid. The scene shows two bearded Knights with armor in the forest with drinking horns and musical instruments. A wolf in the foreground watching child dressed in a bearskin and holding horn. A shining sun above. Signed by “Heinrich Schlitt”. Fully marked base. SIZE: 1) 16-1/2″. 2) 16″.
