CONFEDERATE LEMAT 2ND MODEL REVOLVER. Cal 42/18 ga., SN1293. This is a very fine conditioned gun with a unique long script address covering almost the entire length of the bbl. Only one other gun is noted with this address, and that gun is serial numbered “1297”. This is among the earliest guns utilizing a frame-locking pin which is serial numbered to match the gun, as are most other parts of this gun. This gun has strong traces of finish, esp in the protected areas as can be seen in photos. This gun, once in the collection of Fred and Nancy Edmunds, has his accompanying letter of provenance and authenticity. He states “LeMat number 1293 is in overall excellent original condition, and is well into the top 5% in quality of the remaining examples of this desirable Confederate hand gun”. We concur with Mr. Edmund’s assessment. CONDITION: Metal surfaces on this gun are overall plum/brown with patches of original blue, esp on bbl housing covering shotgun bbl and on frame under trigger guard. All markings are crisp including the unique engraved address. Mechanically gun functions well, bore is good with sharp rifling. Stocks are very good with crisp checkering with several pinhead sized dents near frame in right stock, otherwise just minor nicks and scratches. 4-40822 JS53 (20,000-25,000)
