PICTORIAL AND ALPHABET SAMPLER, AMEY CHRISTAN, BOSTON. Wrought on a linen foundation with four rows of polychrome letters and Arabic numerals, the last four numbers of the last line are 1718, a possible date. The lower half of the needle work embroidered with stylized trees centering a flower filler urn above the name of the maker “Amey christan/Boston” within an eight sided cartouche flanked by two floral filled baskets, now housed in a mahogany frame of the empire period. SIZE: sight size 8″ x 10-1/4″ CONDITION: The linen foundation has darkened to a tea color. The stitching in good structural condition all somewhat faded structurally good to very good. 9-98804 (800-1,200)
