LARGE CARVED BLACK FOREST CUCKOO CLOCK. Early 20th century, Switzerland. Of typical form. The case with peaked roof surmounted by a carved crest depicting a stag’s head above crossed muskets mounted on oak leaf branches. The circular ebonized dial with carved bone roman numerals and clock hands. The border carved as a hunting horn with tasseled pouch flanked by trophy mounts of rabbit and pheasant. All framed with oak leaf branches. The chain weight driven movement striking on a gong. SIZE: 50-1/2″ h x 30″w. CONDITION: With old, dry, crusty surfaces. Antlers missing the tips of two points, otherwise generally good, with small losses. Movement not examined out of case. Retains original pendulum and pine cone weights. 9-27826 (800-1,200)
