RENAISSANCE REVIVAL CARVED MAHOGANY LIBRARY WRITING TABLE ATTRIBUTED TO HERTER BROTHERS. Third quarter 19th century, New York. The rectangular molded top inset with rose red baize-lined writing surface within a gilt tooled leather border, each end fitted with a writing slide. Above the conforming molded frieze, fitted with offset opposing drawers, raised on Gothic panel end supports with oak leaf carving and freestanding carved Corinthian columns, joined to double trestle base stretchers centering a basket weave shelf raised on down-turned molded feet with casters.
