CONSECUTIVE PAIR OF CIVIL WAR-ERA KERR ARMY REVOLVERS. The most common single gun used in the Confederacy other than Colts, was probably the Kerr revolver of which about 8-10,000 ran the blockade. Many of the blockade run guns are “JS-ANCHOR” marked,no doubt bound for the Confederacy. The highest known serial number of the documented guns so marked is in the 9800 range, made in 1864. These two guns are a composite set. Serial 10110 appears as an “as found” gun with traces of finish and is fully functional. Serial 10111 does have some trace of finish on the frame, however most of the gun incl bbl and cylinder have been heavily cleaned and gun does not index every time. Both guns however appear complete and original. Stocks on both guns are very good with strong checkering. Rarely do you have an opportunity to find consecutive numbers in any Civil War-era gun. CONDITION: Serial 10110 overall is gray/brown with strong traces of finish, esp in the protected areas. Areas of scattered pitting, esp on cylinder. There is a 1/4″ chip in stock on right side, between lock and frame. Serial 10111 is gray overall and has been cleaned showing areas of scattered pitting on frame and bbl. Cylinder appears highly cleaned, highly buffed with only partial serial number discernible though other markings are very good. Traces of finish on frame and lock are probably from re-bluing. Front brass post sight has been cut down to a small blade. 4-40764, 4-40765 JS31 (5,000-7,000)
