RARE AESTHETIC MOVEMENT HERTER BROTHERS MAHOGANY CORNER CABINET. Last quarter 19th century, New York. This nice branded example with picture frame molding. The upper shelf with two baluster-turned colonnettes flanked by engaged colonnettes joined by valances above and pierced gallery below. Over the second shelf with open pierced gallery over the third shelf fitted with a brass rod above a medial drawer pivoting on hinge above a pair of covered doors each fitted with beveled clear glass panel on a molded plinth. The cabinet backs fitted with recessed panels within molded borders. Branded twice on backboard, proper right side, “HERTER BROS”. SIZE: 83-1/2″ h x 38-1/2″ w x 28″ d. CONDITION: Very good early if not original polished surfaces. Secondary molding at rear of picture molding cut at base and midpoint to accommodate the cabinet fitting against a wall.
