OUTSTANDING CLASSICAL MARQUETRY DRESSING MIRROR. Mid 19th century, probably Holland. The molded pediment crest inlaid within the frieze with a female figure amidst dense floral vinery, within rosewood crossbanding. The main frieze inlaid with foliate waves. The rectangular mirror plate within molded and ormolu slips, within a mahogany frame of marquetry scrolling vinery. Mounted and swiveling on Doric columns decorated with marquetry foliate filled urns centering a profile bust of a male figure above a female robed figure playing an instrument. The column supports mounted to a rectangular dresser box, fitted with a pair of aligned drawers. The box with opposing griffins, centering a heraldic shield flanked by scrolling foliate vinery, all within multiple crossbanded rosewood and yew borders. The reverse of the mirror also with dense foliate marquetry. SIZE: 50-1/2″ h x 32-3/4″ w. CONDITION: Item retains all original surfaces with minimal and minor restoration.
