GEORGE DIXEY LABELED SHERATON MAHOGANY MIRROR. Second quarter 19th century, New York. The two part rectangular mirror plate flanked by acanthus carved ring-turned engaged pilasters pressed brass floral rosettes above and beneath centering a figured mahogany frieze above the plate with foliate carving. The reeded cornice with acorn drop finials. The partial label for “George Dixey carver and gilder” remains affixed to the original back. SIZE: 52″ h x 26-1/4″ w overall. PROVENANCE: Collection and shop contents of Linda and the late Vito Peri (owners of the Blue Dolphin Antique Shop, Northport, Maine). CONDITION: Professionally restored and repolished.
