CONFEDERATE BOWIE KNIFE FROM GEORGIA ESTATE. This massive Confederate knife is just over 19″ long, with a blade over 14″ long, double edged and almost 2″ wide at the ricasso. Well made with a central spine and 4-1/2″, iron, lozenge shaped crossguard. Carved wooden handle is wasp-waist and fits hand well and is held in place by an inset diamond shaped iron endcap 1″ long. The orig accompanying scabbard is sewn leather, but as seen in photographs is in poor condition and only about 1/2 intact. Purported history states that the knife was purchased at an estate in Smyrna, GA and has not been offered publicly until now. SIZE: Overall just over 19″ long, with a blade over 14″ long. CONDITION: overall the knife is in “as found” condition with metal surfaces, including gray/brown blade, iron crossguard and buttcap ferrule with having scattered stains and pitting.
