FINE AESTHETIC MOVEMENT INLAID DISPLAY CABINET ATTRIBUTED TO HERTER BROTHERS. Third quarter 19th century, New York City. In the oriental taste, the rectangular top with molded and shaped cornice above the paneled frieze carved with floral sprigs, alternating with floral panels inlaid in abalone, the leaves and vines paint decorated. Above a sliding beveled glass door within a molded surround, the side panels of beveled glass, the rear set with mirror plate. The interior with two adjustable shelves on a concave molded plinth. Set upon the conforming base, the ends down-curved above an inset frieze carved with floral vinery within scrolling borders continuing to molded legs terminating in claw feet on a molded shaped platform base. SIZE: 73-1/2″ h x 48″ w x 19-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Very good with nicely polished original surfaces. Painted foliage with some wear. 9-27753 (12,000-17,000)
