FINE COLLECTION OF TEN WALKING STICKS. 19th century. The canes of various hard woods, the handles carved bone, ivory, and horn; some with silver and/or gold mounts. One example depicting primates in a fruit tree. A horn example with gold mounts and floral brightwork. An octagonal rosewood example with faceted brass handle engraved “K.A. STRONG/COH0ES, N.Y./From Uncle Sam”. An ivory-handled example depicting a lion prowling through a hollow tree trunk above a silver mount embossed with flowers and birds. An example in horn with badger and hawk’s head. SIZE: Ranging 33″ to 36″ l. PROVENANCE: Collected throughout New England by current owner.
