UNUSUAL SMALL FRENCH CHEESE SCALE. Late 19th century, France.The rectangular frame mounted with a conforming iron-bound tray set within the frame on the scale mechanism. Mounted with a backboard, paint decorated overall with images of various types of French cheese, headed by a cartouche painted with the name of the owner “L. PERRIN/FROMAGIER/LA GANDE”. The end of the frame mounted with the counterbalanced scale mechanism in brass and iron. Each end of the frame with an iron carrying bale, all in a red wash with gold trim. SIZE: 33″h x 33-1/2″l x 20″w. CONDITION: Generally very good. The unit in old red wash, the paint decorated backboard newly re-done. 9-24079 (1,000-1,500)
