NICE SELECTION OF TEN AMERICAN FOLK ART WALKING STICKS. Second half 19th century. All carved and shaped, some of a whimsical nature. A Masonic example with alligator, cross, heart, turtle, etc., carved with initials “X.L.C.R./S.P.C.S. M.O./H.W.R.”. A gnarled example inlaid with abalone, simulating a snake within a branch; also inlaid with a carved skull. A faceted parquetry example; another with bird’s claw clutching a stone; another carved with a mustached bust of a jockey. SIZE: Ranging 33″ to 35-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: Collected throughout New England by current owner. CONDITION: All in very good condition, showing normal wear and fine patina. 9-93265 (800-1,000)
