ATTRACTIVE LARGE WINE SHOP DISPLAY UNIT. Early 19th and 20th century. Irish. In two parts,the dove-tailed upper case section with four aligned banks of open displays above four aligned shelf openings. The central section fitted with gray/black marble shelves, the cabinet sides fitted with carved and polychrome paint decorated sea serpents. The cabinet set upon an Irish pine large rectangular work table (circa 1820) on square, tapered legs fitted with three aligned frieze drawers. The whole surmounted by a paint decorated crest with two landscape panels of vineyards titled, “CHATEAU LATOUR BORDEAUX FRANCE”. SIZE: 85″h x 10’l x 32-1/2″d. PROVENANCE: This very attractive display unit, used in Fortnum & Mason, Piccadilly Square, London, England, for their Christmas displays in 1978-1980. CONDITION: Overall very good.
