LOUIS VUITTON STEAMER TRUNK. French, late 19th century. Serial no. 300307. The rectangular trunk has a flat lift top, the exterior covered in Vuitton’s Damier checkerboard canvas with wood staves and brass mounts, the interior fitted with three tiers of lift-out trays. Original Louis Vuitton paper label with the address “RUE SCRIBE” and with the London address of “149 NEW BOND ST.” Also with original John Wanamaker retailer’s label. SIZE: 28″h x 43″l x 24″d. PROVENANCE: From a southern Maine home. CONDITION: Structurally good. The exterior with wear to leather edges and strapping. Brass hardware still present. Trays intact. The “L V” emblems extremely faded. 9-23630 (800-1,200)
