STATE OF GEORGIA BLOCKADE RUN IMPORTED CAVALRY SABER. This is the nicest example of the “G” marked “Isaac & Co.” M-1853 Cavalry Saber we have ever seen. Blade on this sword appears almost brand new. Isaac & Co. markings and “G” stampings are crisp as the day they were put on. I have never noticed black japanning between the compressed leather slabs before, but it appears orig and correct. The typical associated M 1853 scabbard is also surcharged with a large “G” for Georgia. There are at least two of these swords identified to Troopers in GA Cav. regiments, including one that was converted to an officer’s sword by W.J. McElroy of Macon. GA. If you want the best example of this sword known, this is it. SIZE: 35″ blade. CONDITION: 35″ blade is bright, retaining orig tool marks and luster with small areas of staining and pitting. Orig protective washer is present, but reduced at edges. Marking are crisp and as good as can be expected. Leather grips retain most of their orig checkering, however one side has close to 50% scuffing and loss of orig black color. Scabbard is sound with several small dents, with scattered staining and pitting. 4-40704 JS10 (5,000-7,000)
