FINE SHERATON APPRENTICE CHEST OF DRAWERS. Second quarter 19th century, possibly New York. Comprised of mixed hardwoods, including cherry, birch, chestnut and oak. This miniature chest with rectangular top above the conforming case fitted with two aligned short drawers above a long drawer projecting above three long graduated drawers flanked by engaged baluster-turned half columns on a blocked base raised on turned cylindrical legs. The case sides with recessed panels. SIZE: 26-1/2″ h x 21-1/4″ w x 14-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a Southern Maine private collection. CONDITION: With original surfaces and rich patina. The top with moderate areas of dark staining commensurate with age and usage. Structurally very good. 9-29406 (200-300)
