THEODORE VICTOR CARL VALENKAMPH (American, 1868-1924) THE TALL SHIP. Fine oil on canvas nautical scene shows a large three-masted, white hulled ship with most sails up. Sailing right to left towards viewer, with a small single-masted ship off the bow. The ocean has waves with areas of white-tipped green and deep blue. Expansive cloudy sky with glimpses of blue. Signed lower right. Housed in its original gesso-decorated deep frame with gilt liners. The back having an “L.A. BIGELOW, BOSTON GALLERY” label. SIZE: 27″ x 36″.
