FINE LIVERPOOL STRAP HANDLE MUG. Mid-19th century. The transfer-decorated mug with the Great Seal of the United States above the name “JAMES LEECH” within a grapevine border, the opposing side transfer-decorated with a floral spray, the strap handle anchored with flowerheads. The whole with burnt umber and black borders. Marked “ADAMS/TUNSTALL(?)” incised underglaze. SIZE: 4-3/4″ h. CONDITION: Very small base rim chip. Minor paint losses to upper and lower rims and on strap handle. Otherwise very good. 9-93671 (800-1,200)
