FINE CARVED PINE STATUE. 19th century. Carved from the solid depicting a mustached male figure supporting a Corinthian capital on his head steadied by both hands, wearing a collared tunic drawn together by a wide belt. The figure is bare legged wearing ankle high laced sandals, on a circular plinth mounted on a later cube platform applied with a base molding. The whole with remnants of overall polychrome paint decoration. SIZE: Overall 73-1/2″ h, original statue 60″ h. CONDITION: All painted surfaces have been stripped exposing multiple old seams and shrinkage cracks. All physical features remain clear. Overall good. 9-99867 (2,000-4,000)
