FINE CARVED EAGLE WALL PLAQUE. Last quarter 19th century, New England. This relief carved pine example depicting a displayed eagle clutching bundle of crossed arrows and patriotic shield in its talons with traces of original paint, and vestiges of gilding. SIZE: 12″ h. 37-1/4″ wingspan. 4-3/4″ deep. CONDITION: Surfaces with dry, crusty paint, and slight old shrinkage cracks on wings and neck. Carving intact with no restorations, breaks, or losses.
