FINE PHILADELPHIA QUEEN ANNE WALNUT ARMCHAIR. Third quarter 18th century. The horizontal crest rail with scrolled ears above the vasiform splat, the serpentine and chamfered arms with outscrolled hand grips terminating in molded volutes on incurved supports, centering the trapezoidal slip seat fitted to the molded rail, raised on square chamfered and molded frontal legs, the rear legs backswept and tenoned, joined by a recessed box stretcher. SIZE: 38-3/4″ h. of back. 17″ h. of seat. CONDITION: Proper right crest rail split and repaired at stile, otherwise structurally very good, showing areas of normal wear. Retaining old dry surfaces and finish, in need of repolishing. 9-93256 (1,200-2,000)
